FEBRUARY
4: HAVE TO HELP HAITI - A BENEFIT CONCERT, 7:00 p.m
Brattleboro Arts Initiative, in collaboration with the Vermont Jazz Centr, has assembled a power-house line up of local and nationally known musicians for Have to Help Haiti, a benefit event to raise funds to suppport Hiati in the aftermath of the recent earthquake. All proceeds will go to Pure Water for the World, who will have a guest speaker on hand to fill us in. Featured performers include Charles Neville, Samirah Evans, Haitian percussionist Harry Ayizan Sanon and members of Azaka, Eugene Uman and Simba. 6: Seventh Annual Collegiate A Cappella - SOLD OUT
But hold on! The Tufts Beelzebubs have agreed to do a special one hour morning performance at the Brattleboro Museum and Art Center on Sunday morning, February 7, at 10:30. Tickets: $20. Call 802-257-0124 x 101 to reserve. Space is limited. Good luck!
13: Dynasty, a Warren Miller Film, 7:00 p.m.
This is the third annual Warren Miller fund raiser organized by local parents, to support winter sports programs for kids in the Windham Southeast Supervisory Union. Narrated by championship skier Jonny Moseley, Dynasty showcases a blend of fresh cinematography and vintage clips from the past SIXTY YEARS of Warren Miller footage. Join us for a breathtaking global tour that will have you craving snow and wishing you were out there riding! Warren Miller films are legend.

3: Ken Burns - The National Parks: American's Best Idea, 7:00 p.m.
Award-winning filmmaker Ken Burns discusses his latest project, a history of the national parks, focusing on the contributions of a diverse group of so-called ordinary Americans. Presented by the Vermont Humanities Council's First Wednesdays program, this event is free to the public. Doors will open at 6:30. Sponsored by Dakin & Benelli, P.C. Brattleboro's First Wednesdays usually take place at Brooks Memorial Library.

7: New England Bach Festival Musicians Reunion, 3:00 p.m.
The orchestra of the New England Bach Festival was carefully chosen by Blanche Moyse for their dedication to joyful excellence and contained some of the most brilliant players from across the country. Sixteen members of that orchestra reunite to celebrate the 100th birthday of Mme. Moyse in a concert that features oboist Stephen Taylor and flutist Susan Rotholtz in works of Handel, C.P.E. Bach, and of course, J.S. Bach. This concert is part of the Brattleboro Music Center Chamber Music Series.

20: Bush Mango Drum & Dance, 5:00 p.m.
Prepare to be inspired! Jump to your feet and join in as Bush Mango Drum & Dance performs JOY! Dances from Guinea, West Africa.
The live drumming is infectious, the dancing is inspiring, their stage presence, joyous! This one time performance is a must see for all ages.

APRIL
3: Spell Check! A Spelling Bee for Grown-ups, 6:00 p.m.
Last year this fundraiser for Brattleboro Arts Initiative was more fun than a barrel of spelling monkeys. Returning as host, Tom Bodett will moderate the 3-person teams in a fast paced and fiercely funny competition, crowning one team the spelling champs. Team registration forms will be available online soon; contact gail@brattleboroarts.org for information now. Last year friends and families in the hundreds came out to cheer their teams. It was, as they say, a total hoot.

Here's a hint to presenters: The 4:00-6:30 Twilight Timeslot is a great, affordable alternative for Live Events. The theatres are also available during the day for meetings and conferences. Community, culture, and commerce are alive and well at the Latchis!
